Paul Tandler

Paul Tandler passed away on October 12, 2022, in Tiburon, Calif., at the age of 93. A service was held October 16 at House of Peace in Colma, Calif., officiated by Rabbi Jonathan Singer. Sinai Memorial Chapel in San Francisco made the arrangements.

Mr. Tandler was the father of Denver residents Jon and Susan Tandler.

Born in Vienna, Austria on September 2, 1925, Mr. Tandler and his parents fled Austria to escape religious persecution. They arrived in the US and settled in St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Tandler graduated from Washington University with a degree in engineering. He also served in the US Army. In 1949 he married his wife Iris; they were a couple for 71 years until her passing in 2021.

After a 45-year career in the copper industry, Mr. Tandler retired.

“Paul was a true gentleman, known and highly respected for his broad intellect, humility, humor and compassion,” his family said. “Paul loved opera, was a voracious reader and well versed on most any topic.”

Survivors include children Bob (Valli) Tandler, Jon (Susan) Tandler and Alan (Cynthia) Tandler; and grandchildren Michelle, Jaclyn, Jeffrey (Kristen), Danielle (Josh), Ryan, Ari and Talia.
