Paul Alan Devore, a successful and respected businessman, passed away after battling multiple cancers on Oct. 20, 2019. He was 74. Rabbi Richard Rheins officiated at the Oct. 23 graveside service at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
“Paul was a dedicated family man with an incredible sense of humor,” his loved ones said. “He found joy in helping them achieve their dreams in life.”
One of Mr. Devore’s surgeons recently told his wife Debbie that “he had never seen a more complicated health history nor a person with such a strong will to live.”
Mr. Devore was born Feb. 9, 1945, in Boston.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Northeastern University.
Mr. Devore, who excelled in the optical business, became national sales manager of Society Optics in 1973, oversaw seven regional managers, traveled the world and relocated with the company to Southern California.
In 1986, he joined the Viva International Group as vice president of sales. During his tenure at Viva, the company grossed $300,000 in sales over a short period of time.
The following year, Mr. Devore and wife Debbie signed a North American franchise agreement with Second Nature, a London-based greeting card company specializing in a broad range of innovative European cards.
They grew the new company into a 120-person marketing and sales organization over 10 years. Mr. Devore retired in 2000.
He was the treasurer of Almost Vegan Cooking School, a nonprofit organization founded by his wife and dedicated to educating people about plant-based foods.
Mr. Devore is survived by Debbie, his wife of 30 years; sons Ken, Andrew and Wes; his son-in-law John; his grandson Adam; and brothers Larry and Gene.
