Patti Seifert, a native Denverite and resident of Aspen, passed away July 27, 2008, in Denver. She was 68.
A memorial service will be held in late August in Aspen. Details will be available shortly.
Ms. Seifert was born in 1940 in Denver to the late Harry and Gladys (Bronstein) Marcove.
She earned a teaching degree from CU and later received her masters from Leslie College in Boston.
She moved to Aspen in 1972.
Ms. Seifert taught kindergarten at Aspen Elementary for 30 years.
In the 1980s, she attended the Teachers College Writing Project in New York City, where she worked and studied with literary professionals Lucy Calkins, Diane Snowball, Shelley Harwayne, Stephanie Harvey and others.
Ms. Seiferts sister Elaine Soy says the experience created new professional horizons and fostered many lasting friendships.
She began doing consulting work in Colorado and the New York area, participated in conferences around the world and wrote educational childrens books.
Patti cared deeply about children and teaching, and has left a legacy of love and learning, her sister says. She was a valued colleague from east to west.
An avid skier, hiker and world traveler, she loved being in the Rocky Mountains and her dog, Nanook.
Ms. Seifert is survived by her sister Elaine (Ron) Soy of Denver; stepsister Irene (Steve) Murphy of California; nieces Lysa (Tim) Reed, Dana Hussey and Tammie (Tom) Burns; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
