Longtime Jewish preschool educator and professor Nancy Nowak passed away on May 30, 2022. She was 80. A service was held June 2, 2022 at Temple Emanuel, officiated by Rabbi Emily Hyatt and Steve Brodsky. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mrs. Nowak was the founder and director of the Temple Sinai preschool, and was also a professor at Aurora Community College.
Receiving her master’s degree in psychotherapy, she was head of the Center for Divorce and Parenting, and was a divorce mediator.
Born in Buffalo, NY, Mrs. Nowak married Michael Nowak in June, 1964. They were a couple until Mr. Nowak’s passing in July, 2011.
“Her motto was Celebrate Life, Celebrate Big, Celebrate Often,” her family said. “She strived to teach us the importance of being kind to others and knowing who you are as a person through all your years.”
Mrs. Nowak’s survivors are children; Karen (Bob) Lewis, Julie (Michael) Eber and Stephanie Nowak; sister Susan (the late Donald) Lubick and the late Rabbi Bruce (Karen) Cohen; and five grandchildren.
