Denver native Honey Wedgle-Gesundheit passed away on September 8, 2024, at the age of 72. A service was held on September 11 at Rose Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Sarah Shulman. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mrs. Wedgle-Gesundheit, born on July 17, 1952, grew up on Denver’s West Side and in the Crestmoor neighborhood, and attended Colfax Elementary, Hill Junior High School and George Washington High School.
A double major in psychology and English at CU Boulder, Mrs. Wedgle-Gesundheit received her master’s degree in social work from DU. She was a social worker, special education teacher and psychotherapist.
In June, 1992, Honey and David Gesundheit were married at HEA. They remained a couple until Mrs. Wedgle-Gesundheit’s passing.
“My mother was a strong advocate for those with disabilities and was so very passionate about Judaism and the Denver Jewish community,” her son Isaac Gesundheit said.
“She had a unique ability to chat up strangers and befriend anyone and everyone.”
Survivors are Mrs. Wedgle-Gesundheit’s husband David; sons Marcus Gesundheit and Isaac Gesundheit; sister Yetta (Rabbi Bernie) Robinson; nephews Daniel (Rabbi Rachel Safman) Robinson and Micah (Valeria) Robinson; and nieces Naomi Robinson, Mindy (David) Fried and Mara (Charlie) Madnikoff.
