William Rosenblum
Longtime Denver area resident William Rosenblum died March 10, 2026. Rabbi Kim Harris will officiate at a service planned for April at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Mr. Rosenblum was born April 10, 1945 in Orange, NJ, where he attended West Orange High School. He held a BA in history from University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. He and Rita Iris Berkowitz met as undergrads; they were married Aug. 21, 1967, and remained a couple until her passing, Nov. 13, 2020.
A professional numismatist, Mr. Rosenblum was a specialist in the coins and currency of Israel, Palestine and throughout Jewish history, from ancient to modern.
As the operator of William M. Rosenblum Rare Coins, he published more than 250 auction catalogues and price lists.
Known for his generosity in sharing his knowledge, Mr. Rosenblum was an active member of numerous numismatic organizations, where he held leadership roles. He also taught courses for the American Numismatic Assn. in Colorado Springs.
The Rosenblums settled in Colorado as a matter of fate. On a road trip back east from Northern California, where they had settled, their van broke down in Denver. They made the area their home, living in Denver, Conifer and Littleton for 50 years.
Mr. Rosenblum is survived by children Brian (Eva) Rosenblum of Lawrence, Kan., Sarah (Joe) Gumina of Conifer; grandchildren Shimon and Sofia, and Rosalita and TJ; and brother Andrew Rosenblum of Methuchen, NJ.

John Freed
Immunologist John Howard Freed died March 5, 2026 in Denver at the age of 82. Funeral services were held March 8 at Feldman Mortuary, officiated by Hal Aqua, followed by interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Dr. Freed was born March 10, 1943 in Pennsylvania. He earned a BS in chemistry from MIT and a PhD in organic chemistry from Stanford University, where he met his future wife Debora. The couple was married until his passing.
Dr. Freed completed postdoctoral trainings in immunology at Stanford and at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.
As faculty in the Dept. of Biophysics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Dr. Freed’s research and teaching focused on immunology and microbiology.
In 1983, the family moved to Denver and Dr. Freed joined National Jewish, where he led a laboratory in basic immunology research for 23 years.
Dr. Freed was committed to academic leadership and mentorship. He was dean of the Graduate School at the CU Health Sciences Center (later CU Anschutz) for 11 years, guiding and supporting generations of graduate students and helping shape the institution’s scientific training programs.
His family described Dr. Freed as “a lifelong learner, whose curiosity extended far beyond the laboratory.”
Dr. Freed loved classical music, enjoyed world travel and spending time in nature, especially camping with his children.
Dr. Freed is survived by his wife Debora; children Peter (Allison) Freed and Emily (Joel) Freed; grandchildren Franny and Aviva; and sister Katie (David) Fliegler.

Gloria Zeichner
Former Colorado resident Gloria Zeichner died Feb. 22, 2026, in La Jolla, Calif. Funeral services were held Feb. 25, with burial in Southwest Ranches, Fla. Menorah Gardens made the arrangements.
Born Jan. 16, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Penn., Mrs. Zeichner moved to Cleveland, Ohio as a child. She graduated from that city’s John Adams High School and attended Ohio State University.
Mrs. Zeichner married Joel Zeichner in 1956. They raised their family first in the Cleveland area, and later moved to south Florida. They remained a couple until his death, April 26, 2014.
A housewife, Mrs. Zeichner loved art and music, Einstein Bagels and espresso martinis, her family said.
Mrs. Zeichner is survived by children Steven (Didi) Zeichner of Denver; Lee (Nancy) Zeichner (Nancy); Larry (Bonnie) Zeichner and Carrie (Andrew) Blum; Alan and Ricky Zeichner; Zach, Jacob and Alexa Silberstein; Nicole Canchester, Jordan Blum; Juliya, Aryana and Mayson Zeichner; and Bella Zeichner.
