Stanley Bauer
Denver native Stanley Bauer passed away on Oct. 25, 2023. He was 80. A service was held Oct. 27 at Rose Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Richard Rheins. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Born on Oct. 20, 1943, Mr. Bauer attended George Washington High School and was first in his graduation class in 1961. He then received a bachelor’s degree in business from CU Denver.
Following graduation from CU, Mr. Bauer began a 53-year career in management at Safeway.
On Dec. 26, 1964, Mr. Bauer married Sandra Goldberg. They were a couple until Mr. Bauer’s passing.
“Stanley was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who cherished his family throughout his life,” Mr. Bauer’s family said. “He loved music, dancing and traveling with his family.”
Survivors are Mr. Bauer’s wife Sandra; sons Craig J. (Koky) Bauer and Ryan D. Bauer; sister Rebecca Schneirson; and grandchildren Ethan N. Bauer, David R. Bauer, Benjamin M. Bauer and Naomi R. Bauer.

Eunice Finer
Denver native Eunice Finer died on November 1, 2023. She was 94. A service was held on Nov. 2 at Rose Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Yaakov Chaitovsky and Cantor Martin Goldstein. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mrs. Finer was born on Nov. 19, 1928. She attended North High School and CU.
In 1949, Eunice and Sam Finer were married, and were a couple until Mrs. Finer’s passing.
A longtime member of Hadassah, Mrs. Finer’s family said “Euni was an empathetic, compassionate soul. Her home is where family, neighbors and friends were always welcome.”
Survivors are Mrs. Finer’s husband Sam; children Meritt Finer and Gayle (William) Talbott; and nieces Janelle (Richard) Mock and Cynthia (Ira) Schwartz.

Longtime Denver resident Jeanne Kaplan passed away on Nov. 4, 2023, at the age of 78. A service was held on November 6 at Congregation Rodef Shalom, officiated by Rabbi Rachel Kobrin and Rabbi Sara Gilbert. Feldman Mortuary handled the arrangements.
A native of Youngstown, Ohio, and born on Sept. 2, 1945, Mrs. Kaplan (nee Slavin) attended the University of Michigan. While working for CBS News in Washington, DC, she met Steve Kaplan. They were married in 1976 and remained a couple until Mrs. Kaplan’s death.
Immediately after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Kaplan moved to Denver, “to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and support her love for skiing,” her family said.
Mrs. Kaplan became a “relentless advocate” of public education, and served two terms on the DPS board of education.
“She will be remembered for her quick wit, her love of the color red, her love for her family, and the wonderful music she shared as an accomplished pianist,” Mrs. Kaplan’s family said.
Survivors are husband Steve Kaplan; children Leslie (Joe Heitkamp) Kaplan and Michael (Alexandra Woods) Kaplan; and grandchildren Sammy and Sophie Heitkamp and Morris and Zev Kaplan.

Jeanne Kaplan

Judith Newberger
Author and music librarian Judith “Judye” Newberger died on Oct. 27, 2023, at the age of 73. A service was held at Feldman Mortuary on Oct. 30, with interment at Emanuel Cemetery. Rabbi Rick Brody officiated. Arrangements were handled by Feldman Mortuary.
A native of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Newberger attended Wayne State University and received her degree in primary education. She married Rick Newberger in July, 1982; they remained a couple until her passing.
Mr. and Mrs. Newberger lived in southern California for five decades, before relocating to Aurora in 2022 to be near family.
In 2008, Mrs. Newberger published a children’s book called Nobody Came for Jasper, based on the family’s shelter cat who discovers in himself what it takes to be adopted.
She also worked as a music librarian at the family business, Ambiance Radio.
“Judye was loved by all who knew her and she will be deeply missed and long remembered,” her family said.
“She was very concerned about Israel, especially after the horrific events of Oct. 7.”
Survivors are husband Rick; children Vickie (Danny) Leon and Brad (Kim) Newberger; and grandchildren Noah and Emery Leon and Rylie and Landon Newberger.
