Sheldon Pike
Longtime Denver resident Sheldon Pike died on July 4, 2022, at the age of 91. Arrangements were handled by Mt. Sinai Mortuary in Phoenix, Ariz.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Pike was born on June 13, 1931. He attended DU on a football scholarship and afterward returned to Brooklyn, where in 1951 he married Anita Lichtenberg.
Mr. and Mrs. Pike moved to Denver in 1956 and had several businesses, including discount stores Shoppers Mart and music stores World of Sound. Upon retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Pike split their time between Denver and Scottsdale, Ariz.
“Always a larger than life character, he was known for his gregariousness, freely offered opinions, humor and love,” his family said. “The world is a little less colorful and a lot quieter without his presence.
“He would have loved that his life ended on July 4 and that he went out with a bang.”
Survivors include his wife, Anita Pike; children Brian Pike (Randi Schmidt), DeeDee Pike (Chuck Rollinger) and Marshall (Susie) Pike; and five grandchildren.
“He was thrilled to become a great grandfather to Ellis Irving Rollinger, and was saddened by the realization that he would not meet his (expected) great granddaughter.”

David Fried
Denver businessman David Fried died on July 18, 2022, three days before his 60th birthday. A service was held July 22 at Emanuel Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Joe Black. Feldman Mortuary handled the arrangements.
Born in Chicago, Mr. Fried and his family moved to Greenwood Village when he was 13, later attending Smoky Hill High School and Cherry Creek High School.
Mr. Fried was involved in commercial real estate brokerage and investments.
“David was the smartest and wisest man I’ve ever known,” said Mr. Fried’s wife Mali. “Kindness, generosity, loyalty and honesty were his credos.
“David put the interest of others before those of himself. He loved his friends deeply but his family deeper than anything.
“He loved life more than fearing death. We will miss him dearly.”
Survivors include Mr. Fried’s wife Mali; children Tyler Fried and Dani (Nate) Sturges; Mr. Fried’s mother Esther; and sisters Lizabeth Einspahr and Sharon Fried.
