Robert Helfant
Former Denver resident and actor Robert Helfant died on June 7, 2022. He was 59. A service was held on June 12 at Chevra Hadad Mortuary in West Hollywood, California, officiated by Rabbi David Jacobson. Arrangements were made by Chevra Hadad Mortuary.
Mr. Helfant was a 1980 graduate of George Washington High School. He attended Metropolitan State College of Denver, as well as University of California-Riverside and Santa Monica College, with a degree in math.
He was a tax preparer at HR Block and an actor, appearing in 50 roles on television and cinema in the US and Europe, with appearances in NBC’s “Mr. Sterling,” HBO’s “Walkout” and Fox’s “Oliver Beane.”
Mr. Helfant was also a fundraiser for the Los Angeles Jewish community. He also worked as a mashgiach, kosher supervisor, for Hebrew National.
“What made Robert special was his capacity,” said his brother Howard Helfant. “Robert was capable of using this capacity for whatever he focused it on: people, technology, dance, acting, weightlifting, Judaism, friendship, chess, wood carvings, income taxes and other things.”
Mr. Helfant is survived by his brother Howard Helfant (Denver).
Jeff Waldman
Denver native Jeff Waldman passed away on June 12, 2022, at 77. A service was held June 14 at Rose Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Yaakov Chaitovsky. Arrangements were made by Feldman Mortuary.
Mr. Waldman grew up on Denver’s North Side. He attended North High School and Cherry Creek High School, and Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction.
In 1965, Jeff and Sharon Waldman were married at HEA on Tennyson Street. They remained a couple until his passing.
Mr. Waldman was a general manager for many years at Paradise Cleaners, and retired in 2010. Since then, he spent time restoring hot rods and while attending car shows.
“He was an honest, caring, generous man whether he knew you your whole life or if he just met you,” said his wife Sharon. “He really enjoyed life and family.”
Mr. Waldman is survived by his wife Sharon, and children Lance (Lisa) Waldman and Brian Waldman.
