Renee Cohn-Karpel
Denver native Renee Cohn-Karpel passed away on July 14, 2025, at the age of 81. A service was held at Feldman Mortuary on July 16. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Born on July 29, 1943, Mrs. Cohn-Karpel (née Stein) attended George Washington High School and graduated in 1961. She was married to Walter Karpel, who passed away in June, 2015.
Mrs. Cohn-Karpel worked in sales for MCI.
“She worked many jobs while raising her three children,” her family said. “Renee enjoyed taking vacations with her beloved family and friends being with her.”
Mrs. Cohn-Karpel lived in Castle Pines at the time of her passing.
Survivors are children Merritt (Christine) Cohn, Sheri (Stephen) Coll and Amy (Jeffrey) Becker; grandchildren Samantha (Will) Buckles, Jacob (Taylor) Cohn, Alexis (Joel) Kronawitter, Lauren (Daryl) Myers, Corey Becker (Arianna Lucas) and Chelsea Becker; great-grandchildren Kinsley Buckles, Hudson Buckles, Owen Kronawitter, Lillian Myers and Jackson Cohn; brother Earl Stein and sister-in-law Sharon Stein.

Sara Jane Epstein
Longtime Denver resident Sara Jane Epstein died on July 7, 2025. She was 86. A service was held on July 10 at Temple Sinai, with interment at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary handled the arrangements.
Mrs. Epstein (nee Simon) was born on October 5, 1938, in Great Neck, NY. She moved to Denver in 1956 and attended CU, where she met Ronald Epstein on a blind date. Sara and Ronald were married for 64 years until Mr. Epstein’s death in December, 2023.
After graduating from DU in 1961, Mrs. Epstein became a kindergarten teacher. She then attended CSU where she obtained her degree in social work in 1979. She worked for the Denver Dept. of Human Services as an intensive home caseworker for 28 years, retiring in 2007.
“Sara’s colleagues and clients remember her as a capable, warm and influential presence,” Mrs. Epstein’s family said.
“She was also tough. In 2015 she became an amputee after losing her leg to an infection, and she battled many health complications throughout her life with strength and bravery.”
She got her treasured Bichon Frise certified as a service animal to provide comfort and support to other people with limb amputations in Denver.
Survivors are children Terry Epstein (Jep Seman), Patty Epstein, David Epstein and Will Epstein; grandchildren Jordan (Taylor) Ivey, Caroline (Ross) Glasser, Abba Seman, Alec Segall, Bryn Segall, Paige (Josh Spicey) Segall, Lowen Epstein and Rose Epstein; brother Richard (Carol) Simon, Jr.; brother-in-law Jerry Snyder; and sisters-in-law Vivian Epstein and Ruth Epstein.
