Phil Sierota

Denver native Phillip Sierota died on February 22, 2025, at the age of 84. A service was held on February 25 at Rose Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Yaakov Chaitovsky and Cantor Martin Goldstein. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Mr. Sierota was born on August 20, 1940, and grew up on Denver’s West Side. He attended CSU, before working in the steel industry for his entire career, initially for US Steel, Empire Metals and Zimmerman Metals. He then opened his own business, R&S Steel.

In 1984, Norma and Phillip Sierota were married at BMH-BJ. They remained a couple until Mr. Sierota’s passing.

“He was a fiercely loyal and strong willed man,” his family said. “His unwavering faith was firmly rooted in his Jewish beliefs and he was a steadfast supporter of Israel.

“Phil enthusiastically supported Norma’s Hadassah volunteer work, and did anything he could to support her in her volunteering efforts.

“He was incredibly determined, and through that determination was able to recover enough from a series of ailments in order to return home after about five months of hospitalization, and enjoy his final five months at home.”

Survivors are Mr. Sierota’s wife Norma; children Michael Sierota, Susan Sierota, Mona Milton and Steve (Angel) Furer; and grandchildren Bryan Herman, Zack Furer and Dominic Furer.

Contributions may be made to Hadassah or Shalom Park.

Carol Roger

Longtime Denver resident Carol Roger passed away on February 28, at the age of 87. A private service was held on March 3, and a celebration of life was held on March 8 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

A native of Boise, Idaho, Mrs. Roger attended Boise State and the University of Utah. At Utah, Mrs. Roger met Mark Rudnick, and the two were married.

When Mr. Rudnick earned his PhD, the couple moved to Denver, where Mrs. Roger opened her first dance studio, and where she taught children ballet, tap and jazz for 20 years.

“As a lifelong dancer, Carol’s love of performing began at an early age when she understood the joy it brought to others,” her family said.

After Dr. Rudnick’s passing, Mrs. Roger met Dr. Sheldon Roger. They remained a couple until Dr. Roger’s death in February, 2016. Mrs. Roger studied interior design and became a successful real estate agent. She was also involved with the SPREE Arts Festival, Barbara Davis Children’s Diabetes Foundation, Volunteers of America and the American Heart Assn.

Mrs. Roger’s family called her a “Break-a-leg, knock‘em dead” life of the party girl.

“Even at 87 years-old, Carol was a dynamo and lover of life. She was zesty, immensely creative, incredibly generous and full of pure love.

“Carol made life fun. She would remind us who had the incredible fortune of knowing and loving her. We offer a standing ovation for a life well lived. Bravo.”

Survivors are children Stephanie (Dr. Todd Kingdom) Rudnick, David (Molly) Rudnick, David Roger, Stephen (Juliet) Roger and Dr. Jeffery (Dr. Joanna) Roger; and grandchildren Benjamin Kingdom, Nate Kingdom, Annie Rudnick, Emily Rudnick, Samantha Rudnick, Julian Roger, Lauren Roger, Jack Roger and Andrew Roger.
