Patricia Silversmith
Longtime Denver resident and educator Patricia Silversmith died on October 3, 2023. She was 92. A service was held on Oct. 6 at Temple Emanuel, officiated by Rabbi Joseph Black, Rabbi Steven Foster and Cantor Elizabeth Sacks. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mrs. Silversmith (nee Glaser) was a longtime teacher and worked in the development office of Lindenwood College in St. Louis. She was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to the National Commission on Vocational Education.
Born in St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Silversmith married Ralph Silversmith in 1952, the same year Mrs. Silversmith graduated from Washington University. They moved to St. Louis in 1958 and returned to Denver in 1986.
In 1983, Mrs. Silversmith earned an MBA in business administration.
“Pat was a perennial optimist, devoted to her family, easily made friends because she took an active, genuine interest in others,” Mrs. Silversmith’s family said.
“She was a lifelong learner whose interests spanned numerous topics – art, music, politics, business and serving her community and nation.”
Survivors are Mrs. Silversmith’s husband Ralph; children Don (Debbie) Silversmith, Gary (Perri Iger) Silversmith and Lynn (James) Silversmith Klein; brother Louis Glaser; grandchildren Ashley (Bobby) Garcia, Lara (Kylie) Ohringer, Alex (Katie) Silversmith, Bethanie (Nick Mayer) Silversmith, Jennifer (Sam Lehman) Klein and Alexa Klein; and eight great-grandchildren.
Sylvia Boxer
Denver native Sylvia Boxer passed away on Oct. 15, 2023, at the age of 89. A service was held on Oct. 18 at Emanuel Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Steven Foster and Cantor Elizabeth Sacks. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mrs. Boxer was born in 1934 and grew up on Denver’s West Side. She graduated from North High School.
On June 30, 1957, Sylvia married Stanley Boxer at HEA. They were a couple until Mrs. Boxer’s passing.
Mrs. Boxer worked as a lecturer and group leader for Weight Watchers. Her family said she enjoyed art collecting, painting, decorating and Mah Jongg.
Survivors are Mrs. Boxer’s husband Stanley; daughters Alice Boxer and Mara-Kaye (Robert) Knapp; and grandchildren Bryan Knapp, Aimee (Daniel Lang) Knapp and Rachel Knapp.
