Marlene Goettelman
Denver native Marlene Goettelman died on May 19, 2024, at the age of 88. A service was held on May 22 at Rose Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Rick Rheins. Feldman Mortuary handled the arrangements.
Born in Denver on September 28, 1935, Mrs. Goettelman attended East High School and earned a degree at UCLA in 1957.
After college, Mrs. Goettelman began her career as a second-grade teacher in Denver Public Schools, where she met Leo Goettelman. The two were married in 1962; Mr. Goettelman died in 2001.
Mrs. Goettelman was a founding member of Temple Sinai. She moved from teaching to the real estate business before transitioning to financial planning. She became the economic development coordinator for Commerce City.
An avid traveler, Mrs. Goettelman had a passion for museums. She was a volunteer for over 20 years at the Denver Art Museum and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
“She humorously claimed her fame for being thrown out of some of the best museums in the world for staying too long, eager to be the first to arrive and the last to leave,” her family said.
“Her legacy of love, learning and adventure will continue to inspire those who knew and love her.”
Survivors are children Scott (Barb) Goettelman and Gary (Colleen) Goettelman; grandchildren Colby Goettelman, Matthew Goettelman, Abigail Goettelman, Kathryn Goettelman and Liam Goettelman; sister Harriet (Don) Fernandez and brother Wesley (Sherry) Stark.

Alvin Sunshine
Denver native Alvin “Bud” Sunshine passed away on May 20, 2024, at the age of 90. A service was held on May 23 at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Joe Black. Feldman Mortuary handled the arrangements.
A native of Denver’s East Side, Mr. Sunshine attended East High School and CU Boulder. During his first semester at CU in 1953, he married Joyce Davis. They were a couple for 63 years until her passing in 2016.
Mr. Sunshine spent most of his career in the food and hospitality business, and was a partner at the Flair Lounge in Aurora and Gator McGoons in Denver.
An avid fan of the Denver Broncos, Mr. Sunshine played tennis, handball and golf.
“He played golf every week when the weather allowed,” his family said.
“He was generally a healthy and happy 90-year-old, until his very last day.”
Survivors are children Gary (Lin) Sunshine, Randy Sunshine, Todd Sunshine and Tina Sunshine; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Judie Davidson-Seidel
Longtime Denver resident Judie Davidson-Seidel died on June 4, 2024. She was 75. A service was held on June 7 at Temple Emanuel, with interment at Emanuel Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Steven Foster. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mrs. Davidson-Seidel, was born in Chicago, Ill., on February 7, 1949. She attended the University of Chicago.
She was in charge of catering and hospitality for many years at the Green Gables Country Club, and after that at the Denver Athletic Club. She had a reputation for fine attention to detail.
She was also realtor in Denver for many years.
“Judie cared about people and gave more of herself than she took,” her husband, Shelly Seidel, said.
Survivors are husband Shelly Seidel and stepson William Seidel.
