Tim Solon

Father Tim Solon, an Episcopal priest with a deep fondness for the Jewish community, died in Casper, Wyo., on Feb. 28, 2026. He was 91 years old.

Born Aug. 25, 1934 in Ohio, Father Solon moved to Wyoming in the early 1960s. He lived and worked in Newcastle, Douglas, Casper and Cheyenne, retiring in 2000, though he continued to minister as a supply priest throughout the state.

Father Tim, as he was known, had an immense fondness and respect for the Jewish people and their faith. He spent countless hours helping to establish the Jewish library at Mt. Sinai Synagogue in Cheyenne and he often attended Shabbat services on Friday evening, so much so that they dedicated a chair just for him in his honor. The synagogue described him as a “great man” in announcing his death.

Father Tim is survived by four children, ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

“He and Diane loved to travel,” his family said.

“Bob was a voracious reader — particularly history, politics and spy thrillers. He was a student of US history and always enjoyed a good conversation (or debate) about US history and democracy.

“Bob was a giant of a man, in stature, in kindness, in compassion, in intellect, in generosity of spirit, and his hearty, infectious and genuine laugh.”

Survivors are Mr. Cohn’s wife Diane; children Lisa (Jeff) Greenspun and Rich (Lisa) Cohn; grandchildren Sydney Greenspun and Avi Cohn; brother Ira (Claudia) Cohn and sister Randi (Sheldon) Sperling.
