Irene Freund
Lifelong Denver resident Irene Freund died on Feb. 17, 2022. She celebrated her 91st birthday one week prior to her passing. A service was held Feb. 18 at Emanuel Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Steven Foster. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mrs. Freund, born on Feb. 9, 1931, was the youngest of 10 children born to Herman and Yetta Levine, who emigrated to the US from Russia. Mrs. Freund was born in Denver and graduated from North High School.
Mrs. Freund married Lee Grossman; they raised four children before their divorce. In 1982, she married Ron Freund. They were married until Mr. Freund’s passing in 2012.
Having worked in various businesses over the years, Mrs. Freund became office manager for Mr. Freund’s business, Paymaster Sales and Service.
“She was a devoted mother and grandmother,” said Mrs. Freund’s family. “She was kind, smart, funny, loved to read and enjoyed playing games.”
“She was greatly loved by her family and friends,” the family added.
Survivors include children Margie (George) Wisecup, Greg (Carolyn) Grossman, Vonnie (Craig) Nelson and Phillis (Mario) Washko; and four grandchildren.

Jack Fischer
Jack Fischer, 75, passed away Feb. 19, 2022. A service was held Feb. 20 at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Richard Rheins. Arrangements were made by Feldman Mortuary.
Mr. Fischer was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1946, and grew up in Denver. He met and married Pam Saliman in 1966. They recently celebrated their 55th anniversary.
A former sales representative and importer, Mr. Fischer later worked for Farmers Insurance.
“Jack had an amazing sense of humor and people loved that about him,” said Mrs. Fischer.
“He will be remembered most for his wide smile, good humor, dear friends and love of travel,” added Mr. Fischer’s family.
Survivors include his wife; children Halee (Michael Wright) Fischer-Wright, Robert Fischer and Michael Fisher; and three grandchildren.

Joni Aaron-Horton
Lifelong Denverite Joni Aaron-Horton died on Dec. 28, 2021. She was 84. A service was held Feb. 27 at Feldman Mortuary Chapel, officiated by Cantor Martin Goldstein.
Mrs. Aaron-Horton was born in Denver on June 9, 1937 and grew up on the West Side near Sloan’s Lake.
A onetime fashion model, Mrs. Aaron-Horton attended Parks College. She then became a college recruiter while working for Education America, Denver Art Institute and the Platt School of Nursing.
In 2000, she married Jim Horton.
“Joni emitted an aura of beauty, elegance, style and professionalism everywhere she went,” said Mr. Horton. “She always had a radiant smile for everyone in her path of life, especially the students she worked with at the schools.”
“To know Joni Aaron-Horton was to love her,” added Mr. Horton.
Survivors include Mr. Horton, children Mark (Janel) Goldberg and Scott (Ann) Goldberg; and six grandchildren.
