Gary Potashnick
Longtime Denver resident Gary Potashnick passed away on August 1, 2022. He was 71. A service was held August 4 at Feldman Mortuary, officiated by Rabbi Emily Hyatt. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mr. Potashnick was chief executive officer at Majestic Wax Company, a local, family owned janitorial supply company.
Born on February 24, 1951 in Tacoma, Washington, Mr. Potashnick lived in Denver for most of his childhood. He attended George Washington High School before attending CU Boulder, where he majored in business.
Mr. Potashnick supported a variety of charities, and volunteered with Temple Emanuel’s program that delivered meals to kids during breaks from school.
“He was very generous,” Mr. Potashnick’s family said.
Survivors include children Lesley (Scott) Henry and Julie (Jim) Weidner; four grandchildren; sisters, Sandra Wolf and Carla Steele.

Gerald Simon
Longtime Denver resident and WW II veteran Gerald Simon died on July 28, 2022, at the age of 99. A service was held July 31 at Feldman Mortuary, officiated by Rabbi Salomon Gruenwald. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mr. Simon was born on November 7, 1922, in Pittsburgh, Pa. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in petroleum engineering.
A WW II veteran, Mr. Simon was stationed in Asia and was tasked with bomb disposal.
Upon returning to the US, Mr. Simon embarked on his lifelong career as a petroleum production engineer. He was also a volunteer at the VA Hospital.
Mr. Simon’s family said he “was a man who loved his family and profession, and did his numerous duties faithfully.”
Survivors include children; Cheryl (the late Michael) Lyman, Eric Simon, Todd (Jill Coben) Simon and Beth (Manny) Spira; and grandchildren Jared and Gabriel Lyman, Claire and Alex Simon, Hannah and Andrew Simon, and Saben, Abraham and Hezekiah Spira.
