Dr. Henry Beckwitt

US Air Force veteran and medical pioneer Dr. Henry Beckwitt passed away on March 10, 2025, at the age of 94. A service was held on March 13 at Mount Nebo Memorial Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Rick Rheins. Feldman Mortuary handled the arrangements.

A native of Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Beckwitt was born on June 13, 1930. He attended Rutgers University and received his medical degree from New York University. While he was a resident at Bellevue Hospital, he met a nurse named Ann; they were married in June, 1956, in New York, and have been a couple ever since.

A captain and physician in the US Air Force, Dr. Beckwitt was involved in pioneering research in the development of heart catheterizations at Rose Hospital. His private practice work led him to St. Anthony’s and Beth Israel Hospitals.

“Beyond his professional achievements,” his family said, “Henry found immense joy and fulfillment through his involvement as a singer with the Colorado Chorale.

“His passion for music was matched only by his love for travel, as he and Ann explored over 75 countries and almost 400 cities across the globe over the last 35 years.

“Henry will be remembered fondly for his kindness and unwavering love for his family, alongside a sharp wit that could bring a smile with a well-timed joke.”

Dr. and Mrs. Beckwitt have been longtime residents of Cherry Hills Village.

Survivors are Dr. Beckwitt’s wife Ann; children Bob Beckwitt, Rick Beckwitt, Wendi Smart and Marc Beckwitt; grandchildren Colin, Elisabeth, Jack, Cassidy, Callum, Finlay, Lily, Nick and Ally; and great-grandson Christian.

Contributions may be made to the Colorado Symphony and Colorado Chorale.
