Chanan Dayan
Native Israeli Chanan Dayan passed away Dec. 26, 2023 in Denver.
A chapel service was held Dec. 29, 2023 at Feldman Mortuary with burial at Emanuel Cemetery. Rabbi Rick Brody officiated.
Mr. Dayan was born March 22, 1954 in Israel and was exceedingly proud of his heritage.
“He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, leaving behind a legacy that will be forever etched in our hearts,” his family said.
Known for his quick wit and infectious humor, Mr. Dayan observed life through a philosophical lens, always pondering the deeper meaning and finding a punchline.
His love for architecture, art, golf, photography and music fueled his creative soul.
Mr. Dayan leaves his wife Kelly Whetstone; children Joshua, Daniel and Anna Dayan; grandchildren Isaak and Elliot Dayan; sisters Daphna Ben Amitai and Lucy Bordona; and brother Leon Dayan. He was predeceased by his mother Hadassah, father Yechiel, stepfather Alfred and son Adam.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Jason Walko
Jason Walko passed away Dec. 23, 2023 at age 47.
A funeral service took place Dec. 26, 2023, at Temple Emanuel with interment at Emanuel Cemetery. Rabbis Joe Black, Emily Hyatt and Irwin Kula, and Steve Brodsky officiated.
Born March 31, 1976, Mr. Walko attended Cherry Creek Schools, excelling in both basketball and tennis. He attended the University of Arizona, graduating with a degree in business finance.
Returning to Denver after college, he met Lisa Feiner, whom he married Nov. 8, 2008.
Mr. Walko’s family said: “While he had many endeavors, Jason’s true passion was his family, and it showed in his dedication to their every interest. He never missed a school event, dance recital or family dinner.”
He was involved philanthropically with JEWISHcolorado, National Jewish Health and Jewish Family Service.
Mr. Walko is survived by his wife Lisa Feiner Walko; daughters Blake and Taylor Walko; father Stephen (Lili Weiner) Walko; brother Cary Walko and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dr. Ruth Rich
Dr. Ruth Rich, a nationally recognized pioneer health educator, passed way Dec. 18, 2023.
Graveside services were held Dec. 21, 2023 at Rose Hill Cemetery with arrangements by Feldman Mortuary. Rabbi Emily Hyatt and Cantor Martin Goldstein officiated. A celebration of life is planned in January in Dana Point, Calif.
Dr. Rich was born Aug. 14, 1928 to Charles and Rebecca Rich in Denver, and was one of 10 children. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado, received an MA from DU and a doctorate in education from UCLA. She taught at Smiley Junior High in Denver while she pursed her MA. Upon moving to Los Angeles, she taught at Hollywood High School. She also taught at Marymount College and Loyola College in LA until she went into administration at Los Angeles City Unified School District (LAUSD) as a health research consultant.
Dr. Rich contributed to health educational research and served as a consultant and writer for several instructional films, filmstrips, television programs and textbooks in this subject field. She was honored with numerous awards and recognitions during her career. She retired in 1998 after 43 years with the LAUSD.
Dr. Rich is survived by her sister Sheila (John) DiNardo; and brothers Bob (Joanna) Rich, Gerald (Marilyn) Rich and Ken (Beverly) Rich.
Helen Kash
Helen Kash, mother of Denverite Robin (David) Savitz, passed away Nov. 22, 2023 at age 95. A funeral service took place Dec. 1 at Eden Mortuary in Mission Hills, Calif.
Mrs. Kash was born in Czetochowa, Poland and emigrated to Toronto, Canada when she was 18 months old. She married at age 19 and moved to the US.
A former model with a keen sense of style, Mrs. Kash enjoyed a successful career in the world of fashion.
Mrs. Kash was preceded in death by her parents Max and Gertrude, brother Gilbert and sister Rose.
She is survived by her daughters Penny (Jim) Wagner and Glory (Sunny) Arnold of California. She was the grandmother of Kyla (Brian), Stephen (Caitlin), Michael (Amanda), Jennifer, Rachel (Taylor) and Kristen. She leaves nine great-grandchildren.
