Carolyn Sampson
Longtime Denver resident Carolyn Sampson passed away on August 22, 2024, at the age of 87. A service was held on August 26 at Emanuel Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Steven Foster. Feldman Mortuary handled the arrangements.
Mrs. Sampson’s passing occurred nine months after the death of her husband, Richard Sampson. The couple married in 1962; they first met on a blind date.
Born in Sioux City, Iowa, on March 5, 1937, Mrs. Sampson’s family moved to Denver when she was 12 years old. She attended East High School and CU Denver.
“Carolyn spent her time being a stay at home mom and always took care of her whole family,” Mrs. Sampson’s family said.
“In sports, she always rooted for all the Denver teams. Her favorite was the Colorado Rockies; she went to every opening day with her daughter Amy for over 20 years.
“Besides sports, she loved to travel and spend time with friends she had for over 50 years.”
Survivors are Mrs. Sampson’s daughter Amy (David Cooley) Sampson; and nieces and nephews Jody, Evan and Julia Frank, and Douglas, Eric and Buzz Sampson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Sampson; sister Patty Messer; and brother Jerry Seff.

Michael Solomon
Longtime Denver resident Michael Solomon died on August 16, 2024. He was 88. A service was held on August 23 at Emanuel Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Steven Foster. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Born on April 10, 1936, in Chicago, Ill., Mr. Solomon’s family moved to Louisville, KY, when he was six years old. He attended the University of Louisville, received a master’s in social work from Tulane University and a doctorate from Smith College.
After living in St. Louis and Boston, Mr. Solomon and his wife Ann moved to Denver in 1967, when Mr. Solomon joined the CU Medical Center as assistant professor and head of the Division of Psychiatric Social Work. He later opened his own practice in psychotherapy.
“Michael was known for his boundless curiosity about people, his non-judgmental nature, and his remarkable ability to listen and provide guidance,” Mr. Solomon’s family said.
“Whether you were family or friend, he was someone you could confide in, always ready to help others find their path.
“With a sharp sense of humor and a pragmatic approach to life, Michael was the life of any party, always available and willing to lend a hand.
“Michael Solomon’s legacy is one of love, wisdom and warmth.”
Mr. Solomon was preceded in death by his wife Ann, who died in August, 2023. The couple was married for 60 years.
Survivors are children Robert (Victoria Gunn) Solomon, Elizabeth (Robert) Low and Andrew (Dananne) Solomon; and grandchildren Delaney, Darby, Brandon, Amanda, Dailey, Emma, Aydan and Alexander.
