Arthur Schwartz
Denver native and nationally recognized First Amendment lawyer Arthur Schwartz passed away on March 15, 2024, at the age of 96. A service was held on March 17 at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, officiated by Cantor Martin Goldstein. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mr. Schwartz, born on September 12, 1927, grew up on Denver’s West Side. He attended North High School and earned his bachelor’s and law degrees from DU. He began his career in 1951, specializing in matters related to freedom of speech.
A founding member of the First Amendment Lawyers Assn., Mr. Schwartz was recognized as a “Master, Mentor and Legend.”
“He enjoyed trying cases and the thrill of winning,” his family said, “and true to his philosophy about life in general, had fun!”
On December 21, 1957, Mr. Schwartz married Hilda Plattner at HEA. They remained a couple until Mrs. Schwartz’s passing in 2015.
Survivors are children Cindy (Hon. David) Goldberg, Robin (Dr. Richard) Sperling and Dr. Lisa (Richard Huttner) Schwartz; grandchildren Cameron Goldberg, Dr. Jared (Haley) Sperling, Dr. Gabriel and Lily Sperling and Lauren and Natalie Huttner; and sister-in-law Ann Gugenheim.

Robert Siegel
Longtime Denver resident Robert “Bob” Siegel passed away on April 27, 2024, at the age of 86. A service was held on April 30 at Temple Emanuel, officiated by Rabbi Joe Black and Rabbi Steven Foster. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
A native of Chicago, Ill., Mr. Siegel attended Roosevelt University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in business. After graduation, Mr. Siegel met Myrna “Mickey” Alpert; they married in 1963 and settled in Highland Park, Ill.
Upon moving to Aurora in 1976, Mr. Siegel held a number of sales and management jobs. He marketed Orange Crush merchandise for the Denver Broncos, and also worked as a mortgage broker.
“As many hours as he put in at the office, Bob always made time on the weekends for his passion: carpentry and woodwork,” his family said. “Bob worked countless hours helping to construct homes for struggling families through Habitat for Humanity.”
Mr. Siegel’s family also said that Mr. and Mrs. Siegel celebrated their 50th anniversary on horseback with their children and grandchildren at a dude ranch in the Rockies.
“Bob’s love for his wife was prodigious,” the family said, “despite her endless campaigns to get him to eat less red meat and consume more vegetables.”
Survivors are Mr. Siegel’s wife Myrna; children Mona (Steven Ingram) Siegel and Aaron (Emily Begel) Siegel; grandchildren Braeden, Amelie, Wyatt and Corey; brother-in-law Edward (Elene) Alpert and sister-in-law Susan (David) Greenberg.

Elaine Cantor
Longtime Denver resident Elaine Cantor died on March 4, 2024. She was 84. No service is planned. Fairmount Mortuary handled the family arrangements.
Born in Indianapolis, Ind., on August 27, 1939, Elaine Pozner married Mel Cantor in 1959; they immediately moved to Denver. Mrs. Cantor worked for Gates Rubber Company and Lynn Toedte, along with other jobs.
“She had wide-ranging interests and explored them all,” her family said. “Elaine was the heart of our family.”
Survivors are sons Darren (Priscilla Gartner) Cantor and Bruce Cantor; grandchildren Mollie Cantor, Sam and Willa Gartner, Zachary (Elisa Rosin) Davidson and Taryn Cantorez; and brothers Norman (Myndel) Pozner and Larry (Raedell) Pozner.
