Nikki Haley: ‘We must always take a side’

What a change in the American presence at the UN. No more nasty American abstention on a standard anti-Israel resolution at the Security Council. No more condescending moralizing  against Israel by Samantha Power. Quite the opposite. The refreshing, blatantly truthful words of current American ambassador Nikki Haley to the UN speak for themselves. A selection of her recent tweets:

December 19, 2017:

“At the UN we’re always asked to do more & give more. So, when we make a decision, at the will of the American ppl, abt where to locate OUR embassy, we don’t expect those we’ve helped to target us. On Thurs there’ll be a vote criticizing our choice. The US will be taking names.”

December 18, 2017:

“The United States will not be told by any country where we can put our embassy.”

December 12, 2017:

“We must speak out for the Rohingya and reject any attempt to play down the magnitude of this man-made tragedy. We must shine a spotlight on these accounts of ethnic cleansing.”

December 11, 2017:

“Today we spoke out about the brutal human rights violations of the North Korean regime and met with two of its defectors. Defectors have reported all North Koreans age 12+ are required to attend public executions — a graphic reminder of consequences of disobedience of the gov’t.”

December 8, 2017:

“The United States will not be lectured to by countries that lack any credibility when it comes to treating both Israelis and Palestinians fairly.”

December 1, 2017:

“To see the pictures of these men in Libya being treated like cattle, and to hear the auctioneer describe them as ‘big strong boys for farm work’ should shock the conscience of us all. There are few greater violations of human rights and human dignity than this . . . There is no place in our world for slavery.”

November 17, 2017:

“Honored for the opportunity to speak at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum to bring attention to the brutality the people of South Sudan face at the hands of their own government. We must always take a side.”

November 16, 2017:

“The Assad regime should be on clear notice: the US does not accept Syria’s use of chemical weapons. We will defend the international standard against chemical weapons use. It would be wise for the Assad regime to heed this warning.”

November 13, 2017:

“Our message to the Venezuelan people is not to give up hope for a better future. We refuse to give up hope and will not stop fighting to get your voices heard. There is light at the end of the tunnel. A life of freedom, dignity, security and prosperity is still possible.”
