New Shalom Park CEO hits the ground running

a new day in the nursing home industry. Old negative perceptions are being replaced with revolutionary approaches to senior care intended to make living in a facility a comfortable, loving experience. When Marc Penner took over the reins as president and CEO of Shalom Park in September, 2017, he happily found many of these new practices in place. He had just come from 25 years of leading Hooverwood, the Jewish home for the aged in Indianapolis, where he brought that institution into the new era of nursing home philosophy and practice. Penner affiliated Hooverwood with the Eden Alternative, which advocates a comprehensive approach in senior care facilities, affirming flexible person-directed care rather than institutional rigidity.
