service has always been Joshua Horowitz’s thing. His first job, when still a teenager, was working in the kitchen for a New York caterer. Soon thereafter, he owned a kosher grocery store in the Catskills and managed it for two summers. His motto at both places: Keep the customer satisfied. Still later, and for nearly two decades, he worked alongside his father in a Brooklyn-based firm that rented cell phones to people traveling overseas. When they started, the company rented out about 20 phones. By the time the business was sold, the number was 5,000.
