Nessie Klein Rappoport, a teacher at Denver’s JCC for 35 years, passed away Sept. 15, 2017, in Denver. The graveside service took place Sept. 18 in Baltimore, Md. Feldman Mortuary made the local arrangements.
Rabbi Steven Foster will lead a memorial service for Mrs. Rappoport on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2 p.m., at Feldman Chapel.
“My mom was one of the kindest, sweetest, caring and unselfish persons,” daughter Frayda Richman said. “Loved by everyone who met her, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother to Lauren and Brandon.”
Mrs. Rappoport was born Sept. 24, 1932, in Baltimore and graduated Towson State Teacher’s College.
She moved to Denver permanently in 1963.
Her 20-year marriage to Dr. Louis Rappoport ended in divorce.
Mrs. Rappoport, whose career focused on early childhood education, taught preschool, pre-K and cooking classes at the Denver JCC for 35 years.
A beloved volunteer at Hillel Academy, Mrs. Rappoport helped with student theater productions.
She belonged to NCJW’s Traveling Theater, Hadassah, and supported Yeshiva Toras Chaim.
Mrs. Rappoport is survived by her daughter Frayda Richman of Denver and son Dr. Louis Rappoport of Phoenix, Ariz.; and granddaughter Lauren Friedman of San Francisco and grandson Brandon Friedman of Denver.
