Naomi Strear, a lifelong Denverite and a painter, passed away Dec. 6, 2015, in Denver. Mrs. Strears grandson Rabbi Jay Strear officiated at the Dec. 8 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
”An accomplished painter, Naomi passed on her gift to her children and grandchildren,” her family said. ”She cherished her lifelong friends and easily made new ones.”
Mrs. Strear was born Feb. 24, 1924, in Denver to Mollie and Abe Cohan.
She graduated from East High School and studied fine art at DU.
In 1943, she married Irving Pine Strear. Happily married for 64 years, Mrs. Strear felt blessed to have traveled the world with her husband. He died in 2006.
Mrs. Strear enjoyed playing golf, cards and Mah Jongg.
”Family and friends were truly central to her life,” her loved ones said. ”We will remember Naomi’s optimistic spirit and her open, caring heart.”
Mrs. Strear is survived by her children Michael Strear, Nancy Strear and Barbara (Martin) Dubin; grandchildren Julie (Glen) Green, Rabbi Jay (Beth) Strear, Jenn (Jason) Rich, Elizabeth Minor, Emily (Chris Russell) Dubin and Jon Dubin; and nine great-grandchildren.
