Nancy Harris Ocrant, an artist and interior designer, passed away Feb. 9, 2012, in Denver. Horan and McConaty made the arrangements.
Nancy Harris was born Sept. 4, 1931, in Buffalo, NY, to Max Harris and Sara Spindelson.
She married Lawrence Ocrant in 1951 and graduated Syracuse University with a BFA in painting and illustration in 1953. She subsequently divorced.
In 1970, Mrs. Ocrant visited Israel and later lived there for a short time.
Owner of an art studio on Pearl Street, she was active in the Denver art scene in the 1960s and 1970s and had several gallery showings.
She was a member of MENSA.
In the early 1980s, Mrs. Ocrant fell in love with Mexico and Mexican culture. She resided part of the year in Aurora and the rest in Mazatlan.
She later joined an artisans colony in Ajijic Jalisco, Mexico, on Lake Chapala. A student and teacher of art, she won several awards for her photography and other works and had her own gallery for a while.
Mrs. Ocrant is survived by her daughter Sara Jeanne Stump of Parker and son Ian Ocrant of Fresno, Calif.; and grandchildren Kasey Stump of Vail, Alexandra Stump of Grand Junction and Dylan Stump of Parker.
She was predeceased by her son Andrew Ocrant.
