Mt. of Olives to get visitor center

Jerusalem municipality has announced plans to build a visitor center at the Mount of Olives, the oldest Jewish cemetery in the world, which overlooks the Temple Mount. The visitor center is to be built adjacent to the Ras El-Amud and Ma’aleh Hazeitim neighborhoods by the Jerusalem Development Authority. Jerusalem municipality spokespeople said the project will give visitors, individuals and groups guidance and information, including written explanations and maps, about the gravesites of family members and famous individuals. It will also include an archive, lecture hall, gift shop and parking, and serve as a departure point for tours of the site.
