Morton Silverman, owner of the Republic Optical Company for over 40 years, passed away July 24, 2009. The service was held at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Palm Desert, Calif.
Mr. Silverman was born Jan. 17, 1923, in Denver to Nathan and Anne Silverman.
He married Annette Mandelberg. The couple later divorced.
During WW II, Mr. Silverman flew several missions in the South Pacific.
He joined his father Nathan at the Republic Optical Company and assumed control of the business after his father passed away.
After his retirement, Mr. Silverman moved to Palm Desert, Calif.
His hobbies included skiing, golfing, putting, and doing needlepoint.
Mr. Silverman is survived by his son Robert Silverman of Boulder and daughter Linda (Mike) Gilmore of Fort Collins; granddaughter Jennifer; and great-grandchildren Alexys, Jayda and Rylin, also of Fort Collins.
