Morton Harvey Dorenfeld, former VP of Barnes Engineering Co. in Golden, passed away Dec. 30, 2014, in Denver. Rabbi Bernard Gerson officiated at the Jan. 2, 2015 service at Rodef Shalom.
Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Morton was devoted to providing for his family and having a successful career, the family said. He was well read and well versed on numerous subjects.
Mr. Dorenfeld was born Sept. 16, 1923, in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated Hamilton High School in Brooklyn and studied mechanical engineering at MIT.
From 1943-1946, Mr. Dorenfeld served as a staff sergeant in the 78th infantry division of the US Army. He was stationed in Europe for two years.
He then earned a BS and MS in mineral engineering at Columbia University and a certificate in computer sciences from UCLA.
Mr. Dorenfeld married Edith Mayer on June 19, 1949. Mrs. Dorenfeld passed away on Oct. 17, 2009.
The senior mineral engineer for C.F. Braun & Co. in Los Angeles until 1971, Mr. Dorenfeld moved to Denver to become vice president of Barnes Engineering in Golden.
He retired in 1983.
Morton Dorenfeld is survived by his sons Joel (Nancy) Dorenfeld of Colorado Springs, Bob Dorenfeld of Salida, Colo., and Dan (Davette) Dorenfeld of Denver; grandchildren Stacy (Tom) OConnor of Colorado Springs and Adam (Lisa) Dorenfeld of Denver; and great-granddaughter Ella OConnor.
