Morris Kaplan

Morris Kaplan, former attorney for the Veterans Administration, passed away May 20, 2012, in Parker, Colo. Rabbi Sara Gilbert officiated at the May 22 service at Feldman Mortuary. Interment followed at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“Dad was an intellectual, a dancer and a historian,” the family said. “He was inquisitive and had a fascination for detail — no matter how small. He also was a devoted husband and father.”

Mr. Kaplan was born Aug. 23, 1913, in east New York, NY, and graduated with an LLB from Brooklyn Law School.

 

From 1941-1945, he served with the US Army in a heavy mortar unit.

 

He married Anne Stoller on March 10, 1946.

An attorney with the VA, Mr. Kaplan later worked as an administrative law judge in environmental and traffic cases.

Mr. Kaplan retired from the VA at age 65 and took his second retirement at age 94.

He was a member of the American Bar Assn. and the New York State Bar.

Mr. Kaplan is survived by his wife Anne Stoller Kaplan of Parker; Laura (Doug LaBier) Tracy of Washington, DC, and Judith (Bill) Lajoie of Littleton; grandchildren Aaron Tracy of NYC and Jessica Tracy of Vancouver, Canada; and great-granddaughter Harper Tracy.
