Mollie Mimi Fishman Burnett Hirsch passed away peacefully May 19, 2013, in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was 99. Services were held May 22 at Temple Bnai Israel. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery. Smith & Kernel mortuary made the arrangements.
She will be remembered for her love and concern for others, her bright smile and friendly ways, the family said. She never met a stranger, and everyone was important to her.
She was an inspiration and example to all who knew her.
Mollie was born July 24, 1913, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Rebecca and Chain Fishman.
At age 23 she married her next door neighbor Milton R. Burnett. They moved to Oklahoma City, where they founded the Lyntone Co., a belt manufacturing company.
Milton passed away suddenly in 1969.
Four years later, Mollie married Stanley H. Hirsch, who passed away in 2002.
A volunteer at Baptist Hospital for 35 years, she volunteered for the Red Cross and was a homeroom mother at Horace Mann Elementary and Harding High.
Mollie was active at Temple Bnai Israel, where she served twice as Sisterhood president and as a national Sisterhood board member. Her life revolved the temple.
A founder of the Erna Krouch Pre-School, Mollie served on the board since its inception. She also enjoyed knitting and needlepoint and continued playing Pan and Mah Jongg until this year.
Mollie Hirsch is survived by her children Sherry (Ike) Bennett of Oklahoma City, Barby (the late Myron) Sidon of Denver and Howard (Ellen) Burnett of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Clay (Louise) Bennett, Bob (Gina) Bennett, Mark (Laurie) Bennett, Yvette (Randy) Trachtenberg, Mike (Traci) Sidon, Josh (Maia) Sidon, Matthew (Jill) Burnett, Julie (Steve) Goldberger; great-grandchildren Mollie, Christy, Graham, Bailey, Blane, James and Will Bennett, Taylor, Megan, Brandon Trachtenberg and Blake and Brooke Sidon, and Tyler, Cameron and Annie Burnett and Jared and Abby Goldberger; and sister Ethel Kaplan and brother Stanley Fishman.
