Miriam Hoffman, a survivor of both polio and the Holocaust who passed away in Denver on Sept. 25, 2015, was described by her family as an aunt, friend, speaker and writer.
Born in Greece on Oct. 11, 1935, Mrs. Hoffman was a reflexologist by profession as well as a volunteer with ORT and the Rose Hospital gift shop.
She spoke to groups in Denver about her experiences as a hidden child during the Holocaust in Greece.
She was a passionate learner, her family wrote, loved the arts, her faith, her Greek heritage, her adopted homeland of America and most of all delighted in her family and friends of all ages and walks of life.
Mrs. Hoffman, who was preceded in death by her beloved husband Fred, was the mother of Hanna (Mark) Shaner, Sylvia (Alan) Wolpa, Anthony (Jeanee) Hoffman; the grandmother of Zachary (Lindsay) Wolpa, Amy and Ryan Wolpa, Jordan, Madison and Joseph Shaner; and the sister of Zak (Liz) Nahmoulis.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to ORT America, Jewish Family Service of Colorado, Denver Hospice, the Holocaust Awareness Institute or any Holocaust-related charity.
