Mike Pence’s ‘zone’ around his marriage

President Mike Pence has said that he takes steps to build “a zone” around his marriage. In 2002 he said in an interview that he never eats alone with a woman other than his wife, nor attends events without her if there’s “alcohol being served and people are being loose.” My colleague Andrew Silow-Carroll of JTA has taken these remarks as a springboard to a column, for which I thank him for many of the sources and summaries I now cite. (The opinions are my own.) Critics have taken Pence to task for treating women as objects of temptation.
