He had just been endorsed by the Denver Post and, though he doesn’t yet know it when we sit down, he will later that evening be one of the first to call for Donald Trump to step aside following the Republican presidential candidate’s latest imbroglio. Coffman, an Aurora native and a military veteran with five overseas deployments, is locked in a close race with Morgan Carroll, former president of the Colorado State Senate.
