Michael Kart

Korean War veteran Michael Ivor Kart died on September 13, 2022. He was 90. A service was held on September 18 at Feldman Mortuary, officiated by Rabbi Steven Kaye. Feldman Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Mr. Kart, who was born in Chicago, Ill., on August 15, 1932, served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953, was awarded the Korean Service Medal, three Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.

Upon conclusion of his military service, Mr. Kart received a bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest College in Illinois. He worked in the textile industry for many years. In 1967, he changed careers and became an officer for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Mr. Kart retired in July, 1999, and three years later moved to Evergreen, Colo.

“He was described as fun, witty, smart, social, sarcastic, hilarious, genuine and a unique individual,” said friend Michael Sherman. “He will always be unforgettable to all.”

Mr. Kart is survived by his sister, Patricia Kart, of Henderson, Nev.
