Michael H. Ross, MD

Dr. Michael Harvey Ross, past chair of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Lutheran Medical Center, passed away May 25, 2008, in Golden, Colo.

Rabbi Steven Kaye officiated at the May 28 service at Feldman Chapel. Interment followed at Crown Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Dr. Ross was born Nov. 11, 1939, in Detroit, Mich.

He graduated from the Wayne State University College of Medicine in 1961 and did his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Hutzel and Women’s Hospital in Detroit.

For two years, Dr. Ross served as a captain in the US Army Medical Corp. in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.

He married Karon Edith von Chowes on June 12, 1965. The couple moved to Denver in 1972.

Dr. Ross started his private OB-GYN practice in Arvada in 1972. The practice later became West Side Women’s Care, with offices in Arvada and Wheat Ridge.

A life fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Ross was the recipient of several awards and authored numerous papers. He also taught and mentored several young physicians.

He retired in 1998.

After his retirement, Dr. Ross pursued interests in business and politics and traveled throughout the world.

He is survived by his wife Karon Ross of Golden; daughter Shalla (Alan) Eisenberg and granddaughter Michayla of Arlington, Va.; brothers Alan (Helen) Ross of Orchard Lake, Mich., and Robert (Janice) Ross of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

Dr. Ross was predeceased by his son Irving Ross.

    I happened to come across Dr Ross Obituary.Dr Ross delivered my daughter in 1977 at Lutheran Hospital.
    He had a sweet spirit and very compassionate Dr.
    You will always be remembered.
