May Chariton, a medical librarian at several universities, passed away July 10, 2021, in Grand Junction, Colo. The family held a private service, as well as an informal celebration of life service over Zoom.
“May had a warm and wonderful sense of humor,” the family said. “She also had a deep love of Yiddishkeit. As the child of Yiddish-speaking immigrants, she learned the language before English.
“Her longstanding friendships and relationships with extended family are a testament to how much she was loved, and will be missed by so many.”
Mrs. Chariton was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Brooklyn, NY, and lived in Brooklyn and Long Island before moving to Grand Junction.
A student at Hunter College High School, she graduated Hunter College in Long Island.
Mrs. Chariton was a housewife before returning to school.
She then worked as a medical librarian at several hospitals.
May Chariton is survived by her children Michael (Rebecca) Chariton of Grand Junction, Owen (Jeanne Pantone) of Lakewood and Sandra Eisenberg of Grand Junction; and grandchildren Talia Eisenberg of Portland, Ore., and Rachel Chariton of Colorado.
