Maxine Gold Berman, a teacher and Denver resident since 1938, passed away Feb. 4, 2013, in Denver. Rabbi Brian Immerman and Cantor Regina Heit officiated at the Feb. 8 service held at Temple Emanuel. Interment followed at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Maxines optimism permeated her life, her loved ones said. Her glass was not just half full, it was brimming over. She loved people and saw the best in everyone.
Family was the most important thing to her. Although she is gone from our sight, she will remain forever in our hearts.
Mrs. Berman was born Nov. 26, 1916, in the Bronx, NY.
She graduated with degrees in education and chemistry from Hunter College and earned an MA in guidance and counseling at CU.
Maxine Gold married Norman Berman on July 21, 1940. Mr. Berman passed away on June 8, 1994.
A substitute teacher at the junior and senior high levels, Mrs. Berman also taught homebound students, adult education, and was a GED instructor at Emily Griffith Opportunity School.
She belonged to Hadassah, Brandeis Women and the Denver Teachers Assn., and was a Bronze Life Master in bridge.
Mrs. Berman is survived by her daughters Jane (Arnold) Mondrow of Denver and Robin (Stephen) Grove of New York; grandchildren Jennifer (Bob) Tinucci, Melissa (Peter) Winthers, Michael (Marissa) Grove and Sarah Grove; and great-grandchildren Kayla, Justin, Ella and Brian.
