Denver native and US Army veteran Max Brooks passed away on March 13, 2024. He was 87. A service was held on March 18 at Feldman Mortuary, with interment at Golden Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Yaakov Meyer. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Born on January 5, 1937, Mr. Brooks attended North High School and CU. He then enrolled in the Army Reserves, and was recalled during the Berlin Crisis.
In August, 1960, Mr. Brooks married Mary Anne Madden. Mrs. Brooks passed away in May, 2009.
Owner of Brooks Bail Bonds, Mr. Brooks was well known in the bail bond business.
His family said that his passion was raising money through bingo for local nonprofit organizations. He raised millions of dollars for non-profit charities and was often referred to as “Mr. Bingo.”
“Max was a kind and incredibly generous person,” his family said. “He was willing to give you the shirt off of his back, without question.”
Survivors are Mr. Brooks’ daughters Angeline (Homer) Wood, Diane (Curt) Cemer and Faryl Paez; grandchildren Samantha (Keeyon Tate) Wood, Cory (Amber) Cemer, Bo Cemer and Melissa (Mac Cortinas) Paez; siblings Morey (Carol) Brooks, Stewart (Paula) Brooks and Vicki Bramble; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
