Mary Fink Heins passed away Sept. 9, 2013, in El Paso, Texas. Funeral services are scheduled Sept. 12 at Temple Mt. Sinai. Interment follows at Temple Mt. Sinai Cemetery.
Mary Fink was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Clarksdale, Miss., to Rose and Joe Fink. The youngest of four children, she grew up in Kentucky.
After graduating high school, she met the love of her life, Jay Heins. Married for 63 years, they moved to El Paso in 1950.
Mrs. Heins was a high school math teacher for 30 years and also helped her husband run the family restaurant.
She was the administrator of religious education at Temple Mt. Sinai, a founding member of the El Paso Opera and a driving force in the arts community.
The family extends its deep appreciation to Drs. Branch Craige and Glen Halff, Jaime Villalva, RN, and Marybeth Medicke, Myriam Serna and La Mariposa Hospice.
Mrs. Heins is survived by her husband Jay Heins; children Mark (Jackie) Heins, Amy (Allan) Goldfarb, Barry (Tracy) Heins and Andy (Leslie) Heins; and grandchildren Carroll-Anne, Sarah, Meredith, Shelley, Judith, Aaron, Ben, Kelsey, Matthew and Emily.
