Marvin Robert Messel, a Denver native and lifelong resident, passed away May 11, 2013, in Denver. Rabbi Steven J. Rubenstein officiated at the May 14 interment at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mr. Messel was born in 1927 to the late David Messel and Reba Phillips Messel. He had three older siblings, Evelyn, Claire Kopff Antman and Cissy Rudy.
In 1950, Mr. Messel joined the Messel Mercantile Co., founded by his father.
He earned a pilots license to enjoy one of his favorite past times.
Mr. Messel is survived by two nephews, Jeffrey (Reita) Pooley of Palm Desert, Calif., and children Trevor and Tara, and Gary (Judy) Kopff of Washington, DC.; and nieces Eileen Kopff (Bruce) Snow and daughter Heather of Lafayette, La., Wendy Emrich and children Clarens and Mika of Denver and Laurie Emrich (Gael Murphy) of Washington, DC.
