Marvin Jerome Kippur, a successful Denver businessman and lifelong resident, passed away Dec. 11, 2010, at Shalom Park. Cantor Joel Lichterman officiated at the Dec. 12 graveside service held at Golden Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mr. Kippur was 58 years old when his grandson Zachary, who was developmentally disabled, first came to live with him and his wife Rosanna.
People would say to him, How can you care for this little guy? the family said. And he would reply, How could I not!
Zachary lived with the Kippurs for nine years.
Mr. Kippur was born April 28, 1927, on Denvers West side.
A graduate of North High, he joined the Merchant Marines as a ships cook third class in 1945,
Mr. Kippur served in the US Army from 1946-1947 and was a clerk typist at the Pentagon.
From 1948-1949, he attended DUs Lamont School of Music.
He married Rosanna D. Kippur on January 28, 1984.
A partner in various scrap metal companies throughout the years, Mr. Kippur was with Atlas Metal & Iron Corp. since 1978. He never retired.
His interests included music, fishing crossword puzzles, reading, golf and playing poker.
Mr. Kippur is survived by his wife Rosanna Kippur; brother Stanley (Judy) Kippur of Denver; sons Steven Kippur of Tucson, Ariz., Gary (Tandy) Kippur of Tucson and Bruce (Merrie) Kippur of Denver; grandchildren Michelle (Jaran) Travis, Danielle (Jeremy) Rovinsky, Andrew, Jordan, Rachel, Jamie and Andrea Kippur; and great-grandson Yehuda Aryeah Rovinsky.
He was predeceased by his grandson Zachary Kippur in 1994.
