Marshall Brodsky passed away on Aug. 23, 2023, two days before his 88th birthday. A celebration of life ceremony is being planned for Sept. 21, with a time and location to be determined.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Brodsky attended Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and worked for the New York Transit Authority, building a line on the Lower East Side. He then worked for IBM when the company was developing an advanced mainframe computer.
In 1976, Mr. Brodsky made a career change to practice law and began studying law at CU Boulder. In his second year in law school he met Pat Masden; they remained a couple until his passing.
Mr. Brodsky practiced civil litigation in Denver from 1979 to 2002.
“He was warm and funny and smart and tender and the world is a poorer place without him,” his family said.
“His main regret about dying at this time is that he won’t get to find out if, finally, fission energy will stop being the next big thing and instead, actually work.”
Survivors are Mr. Brodsky’s wife Pat Madsen; son Dan (Luisa Rossetti) Brodsky, and sister Sue Pencall.
Donations may be made to the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research.
