Marion Wolf Slavsky, a longtime Denver resident, passed away March 9, 2016, in Denver. Cantor Elizabeth Sacks officiated and Cantor Regina Heit co-officiated at the March 10 service held at Temple Emanuel. Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
“The Tao of Bubbie says to ‘go for the good,’” grandson Martin eulogized at the service. “One of Marion’s underlying philosophies was to celebrate the good things so that when bad things happened, the positive memories overcome the pall.
“She celebrated. She danced. She cried out of pure joy,” Martin said. “In later years this emotion translated into what we affectionately call the ‘Bubbie Burple’ — a welling up of happiness and joy that is almost beyond description.”
Mrs. Slavsky was born Nov. 15, 1932, in Chicago, Ill. A resident of Cheyenne, Wyo., Orange County, Calif., and Dallas, Texas, she spent the majority of her life in Denver.
She graduated East High School.
On Jan. 20, 1952, she married Stanley Slavsky. They were together for 64 years.
Mrs. Slavsky worked in several positions during her life.
She was head cashier at Fashion Bar; administrative assistant at Paine Webber; bookkeeper for many years at her husband’s gas station, Cargo Standard; sales and bookwork with her daughter at Ryburn Davis Custom Floral; and secretarial work at Berglund-Cherne.
Mrs. Slavsky is survived by her husband Stanley Slavsky of Denver; children Mark (Sharon) Slavsky of Wheat Ridge, Steve (Pamela) Slavsky of Boston and Marci (Steve) Rottler of Englewood; grandchildren Matthew, Kimberly (Joe) and Melanie, all of Denver, and Martin of Columbus, Ohio; great grandchild Sarah; and brother Elliott (Ivana) Wolf of Seattle, Wash.
Her sister Esther Cohen-Strauss predeceased her.
