[dropcap]Margaret[/dropcap] Richman, a lifelong Denverite and cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Dec. 7, 2020, in Denver. The family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date.

“Mom was our reference librarian, book reviewer, knee-jerk-liberal political consultant and cheerleader,” her children said. “She was courageous in life and in death, and she will be missed every day.

Mrs. Richman was born in Denver on Oct. 29, 1929, the day the stock market crashed.

She attended East High and CU.

Her life changed when she took shelter from the rain during a cookout and met her future husband Herman Kiev Richman.

They were married on May 29, 1949.

The couple traveled the world, hiked to base camps in the Himalayas, and backpacked in Colorado and Wyoming with their friends Jan and Dell Bernstein.

Mr. Richman passed away Aug. 19, 2012.

Mrs. Richman volunteered as a ski guide for Foresight Ski Guides (an organization for the blind and seeing impaired) in Vail.

Margaret Richman is survived by her children Mark Richman, Laurie (Bruce) Bortz, Cindy (Bob) Pailet and Mike (Conzuelo) Richman; and grandchildren Andrew Bortz, Carin (Cole Bruns) Bortz, Dave (Alex Hughes) Pailet, Molly Pailet, Kiev Rico Richman and Odette (Michael) Katz.

Donations may be made to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) or Elevation Hospice.
