Marcia Brooks Lustig, a long-time resident of Denver, passed away May 21, 2011, at the age of 89. The funeral was held May 24 in California, with Rabbi Steven Foster officiating.
The rabbi also officiated at the memorial service held May 25 at Temple Emanuel. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
She was a devoted friend, parent and grandparent, the family said.
Mrs. Lustig was born in 1922 in Minneapolis, Minn., to Sol Brooks and Rae Kaufman, and moved to Denver with her parents when she was six.
A graduate of East High and CU with honors, she was a social worker who helped returning WW II veterans.
She married Sam Lustig in 1948 and they raised their family in Denver.
Mrs. Lustig, a realtor, was an early supporter of womens rights and also was a strong advocate of animal welfare.
She was a lifetime member of Temple Emanuel.
Mrs. Lustig is survived by her three children, Merle (Ron Glass) Lustig of Santa Cruz, Calif., Brook Lustig of San Jose, Calif., and Heidi (Robert Fulgham) Lustig of Oakland, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband.
