Manya Bertram, a native Denverite and an honored attorney, passed away Nov. 21, 2015, in Oakland, Calif. Sinai Memorial Chapel made the arrangements.
A memorial service is planned for early February.
”She led a life full of giving to family, friends and colleagues,” her loved ones said. ”She leaves a multitude of friends and family who are touched forever by her generous spirit.”
As her Belmont High School year book said of her, Nothing can cover her high fame but heaven.
Mrs. Bertram was born July 21, 1917 in Denver and raised in Pueblo by her parents Rivka (Feiner) and Samuel Bornstein.
She moved with her parents, brother David and sister Teresa Rosalie to Los Angeles in 1930.
Mrs. Bertram worked as a legal secretary and then went to law school.
She graduated magna cum laude in 1962 and practiced with Jack D. Most and Richard F. C. Hayden.
Honored by Iota Tau Tau, the International Federation of Women Lawyers, Mrs. Bertram was active in the White House Conference on Aging and the Southern California Conference on Community Relations.
A mentor to many young women who wanted to become attorneys, she was married for 73 years to Barry B. Bertram.
Mrs. Bertram is survived by her sister Terry (Maxwell) Keith; son Neal (Ann) Bertram and daughter Carel (Fred Donner) Bertram; grandchildren Seth Bertram, Alanya (Michael Jones) Snyder and Rumeli (Cyrus Comiskey) Snyder; and great-grandsons Selim and Naveed Jones and Sandriz Comiskey.
