Emanuel “Manny” Dworkin, who breathed music with every breath and helped found Temple Sinai with his late wife Sally, passed away March 25, 2020, in Denver. Cantor Martin Goldstein officiated at the March 26 graveside service at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Shalom Funeral Services made the arrangements.
“Manny loved music,” his family said. “He was always singing or humming Broadway show tunes. A talented cantor, he performed in musical and opera theater.
“Manny is remembered for his renditions of ‘Kol Nidre’ and ‘Kel Maleh.’
“We miss his beautiful singing voice, his laugh, his sense of humor, his back scratches and his love,” his family said.
Mr. Dworkin was born May 3, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY. He lived in Omaha, Neb., Chicago, Ill., Cleveland, Ohio, and Denver.
He attended the University of Miami for one year and graduated from the University of Nebraska.
Mr. Dworkin married Sally Solomon Dworkin on July 11, 1954, in Omaha, Neb.
A veteran, he served in the US Army in the Korean War, 1953-1955.
Mr. Dworkin, a cantor and businessman, loved the mountains and nature.
“He took regular trips to Idaho Springs, Georgetown and Guanella Pass with his wife, kids and grandchildren,” his family said.
“Manny was very kind and devoted to us.”
Mrs. Dworkin passed away on May 4, 2008.
Manny Dworkin is survived by children Amy Brenman (Jay Fry) of Chicago, Barbara (Steve) Feldman of Denver and David (Wendy) Dworkin of Denver; grandchildren Adam and Shira Brenman, Ethyn (Monica), Tayla and Elyana Feldman, Jessica and Melissa Dworkin; and great-grandchild Lexie Friedman.
