Making Money — literally — at the Denver Mint

is Denver really famous for? With the possible exception of the Broncos (and maybe the omelet), the Mile High City’s true claim to fame has got to be the Denver Mint. Think about the billions of tiny “D’s” that appear beneath the dates on more than a century’s worth of pennies, nickels, dimes and more. Think about the hordes of tourists who can’t wait to watch those leviathan machines stamp out glittering piles of jangling currency, or behold the warm yellow glow and staggering value of stacks of gold bullion.
