Lynne R. Hamstra, 47, a dedicated volunteer and community advocate, passed away April 23, 2011, in Vail, Colo. Rabbi Steven Foster officiated at the April 27 graveside service at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
The family chose this quote from Tuesdays With Morrie to describe their feelings about Lynne: As long as we can love each other, and remember the feeling of love we had, we can die without ever really going away . . . Death ends a life, not a relationship.
Ms. Hamstra, who most recently served as development director for Up With People, worked in corporate relations and development for many Denver businesses and nonprofits.
She also supported fundraising activities for Volunteers of America, the Denver Zoo, the Denver Film Society, Warren Village, Denver Center for the Performing Arts and Mullen High School.
Ms. Hamstra was born Feb. 3, 1965, in St. Louis, Mo.
She earned a BS in marketing from CU in 1987.
During her impressive career, Ms. Hamstra worked for the Marriott Hotel Corp., the Historic Paramount Foundation, Inc., the Colorado Ballet, the Central City Opera House and other organizations.
Ms. Hamstra is survived by her son Teddy; father Stephen Carp; mother Joyce Carp; and brothers Andy and Bobby Carp.
